Fun Fact: Dark Souls was based on the Berserk Universe. The Dark Souls director was a huge fan of the Berserk Series.
It wasn’t “based on” Berserk, it has minor influences and references here and there but “based on” means it’s largely built around it. It isn’t, Dark Souls takes place in an entirely unique universe envisioned by Miyazaki.
I feel like you mention a lot Griffith “hating” Guts, but it’s way more conflicted than that. He does mention “love” (perhaps not in a romantic way although that is up to debate), but there is an affection that you can’t overlook.
It’s amazing how binary some of their interpretations of characters are.
Yes, Griffith loves Guts and it is for this reason that he holds a grudge against him. He most likely blames Guts for making him forget about his dream and illogically leading him to commit a reckless action (taking the princess by force). This reckless and emotionally-fueled action has led him to his downfall, as Zodd had told Guts would happen eventually. There is also jealousy involved as he sees both Guts and Casca loving each other DESPITE him.
There’s definitely a lot of conflicted emotions inside Griffith.
Can’t wait until next week. The end is near strugglers
Doesn’t matter how many times I see/read it. I’m never ready.
Are you serious? That was clearly rape.
What griffith did to the princess was clearly wrong. Back in the medieval days, women who have feelings for a man are often taken advantage of by the person they like. Women during those times may have seen this as normal which is just horrible. They thought it was a part of love but it isn’t.
It’s almost here
Too bad it ends ‘there’. 🙁
And everything under the sun is in tune
But the sun is eclipsed by the moon
I think the arguments used by two of you guys actually go against what you’re trying to prove. First, the fact that Charlotte actually cares about Griffith makes his actions even more disgusting. He forced himself on a very young girl who was not ready to go that far and who trusted him. Then, mentioning the manga as if this is made any better there is ridiculous. This scene in the manga is clearly depicted as rape, while in the anime it’s left a LITTLE bit ambiguous. Also, what makes this even more terrible in the manga is that her father is also sexually preying upon her. The men she cares for in her life seem to not give a fuck about her aside from how they can use her to achieve their own needs.
I rest my case.
“She doesn’t look like a rape victim?” I don’t even know where to begin with this! I honestly cannot believe this nonsense. We ALL know Charlotte is infatuated with Griffith. However she appears after the fact or prior, she said “no” and he forced himself onto her! She wasn’t given a choice! That’s rape! Full stop! It’s even dumber to make this asinine argument after knowing what happens to Casca despite how Casca feels about Griffith! Do you honestly think rape is simply about how one party “feels” about it afterwards?! What’s wrong with you?!
“Full grown adult” lmao
16 is the consenual age for most areas of Europe where the setting is more or less based, plus During the mediaeval era and the era of feudalism, in England the age of majority for males was 21 and for females 14 if married and 16 if single.
Is it different to what we just saw? If not, it’s still rape if the person who loves you says no in the moment and you force yourself onto them.

You can feel fine or still approve of a partner even if the act they did is rape. Charlotte might be happy she did it with Griffith but still can be raped by him. It isn’t a hard concept to understand that act, at that moment is rape, and moving forward is up to the characters to deal with it. Charlotte deals with it by looking at the whole thing fondly vs focusing on how he forced himself. Because she still wants him but what he did was crossing her boundary to initiate it. Getting mad at this interpretation by others and trying to vehemently defend this because others have a different view is obtuse. It is a well known trope used here by MCs “forcing” themselves on love interests who give in.
Bro the art for the creatures is so good
it’s even more obvious in the manga that it’s not consensual lmao

You understand that the Manga is irrelevant right? We are talking about the anime adaptation here, they could be COMPLETELY different for all I care it still doesnt matter. They are here watching this anime adaptation and can say whatever they want based on the context before them. When the fuck do you watch an anime, stop, go read a specific scene from the manga, then say you like something from the show. You all sound like some fucking idiots, and even if thats how you interpret the scene EVERYONE CAN VIEW SOMETHING DIFFERENTLY. I’m on the side of it being rape, saying no and then not being able to say anything is NOT giving consent, whether she likes him or not, it’s fucking disgusting that you even think that. A smile could just be a coping method, she could have even smiled BECAUSE he was gone you have no fucking idea. To blatantly state something using part of the manga even though they SPECIFICALLY changed it in this adaptation removes any validity your point might have had. Even if it ended up being something she accepted that doesnt change that when someone says “No, dont, stop it, no” it doesnt mean force yourself on them until they agree. You all disgust me, I expected more from this community
