Ganymede has huge agrodomes with large solar panels in orbit to reflect the Sun’s rays. It is a permanent settlement and one of the oldest in the solar system. It is the primary source of food for the outer planets. The tension between Earth and Mars have been rising for decades now. That is why both Earth and Mars have marine presence there. The forces are divided by a hard border, with support ships in orbit. The two sides don’t trust each other and Eros and Phoebe have just added fuel to that mistrust. Both sides on Ganymede are on standby to fire if the other side tries something funny.
This episode starts Book 2 of the series so that’s why it feels so much like a premiere even though it’s in the middle of the season
